County councillors ride the guided bus
Cambridgeshire county councillors got to ride the guided bus today as special journeys were laid on during the testing of the new buses to run them from Cambridge Regional College to Park Lane in Histon and back again. We rode on a double decker which was pretty much like any other new double decker with the added comfort of leather seats and the promised availability of WiFi. Read the rest of this entry.

Station Road, Histon resident John Phillips is very pleased now that it’s clear to motorists that they should not park outside his driveway. The painted white line makes it clear that this is a driveway in use and that to park across it would be to cause an obstruction. Read the rest of this entry.
Histon Junior School: another one to be proud of!
Histon and Impington are unique in terms of their primary education provision in that there are two schools on two sites with two head teachers. Greening Histon & Impington Launch Event
HICCA(Histon and Impington Climate Change Action) is launching its ‘Greening Histon and Impington’ campaign this Saturday (28 Feb 09) with an event at the Histon Baptist Church. The event runs from 2 to 4 pm with the official launch taking place at 3pm. Villages to lose bus service
Residents of Cottenham, Histon and Impington are to lose a valuable bus service when Myall’s ceases its 104 Sunday operation next month. The service runs until 11pm and when it goes there will no longer be a public transport link between the villages and Cambridge in the evening. Read the rest of this entry.
First the snow, then the grit and now the holes in the road
The recent bad weather played havoc with traffic, work schedules and school attendance and now that it’s behind us its impact on the county’s roads is apparent. Premier Foods announces investment to eliminate local smells
Premier Foods is a major employer in Histon, probably the largest, and is a significant contributor to the local economy through employment and the spending of its employees at local businesses. It operates many of the businesses started up by Chivers in the middle of the 19th century and although most of the raw materials are now imported the products that go out today are little different to those which were shipped then. rain couldn’t dampen the 20s plenty event
Histon and Impington Parish Councils ran a 20s plenty action event on The Green in Histon this Monday 20 Oct 08 at 15.30. There were refreshments and many attended and gave their support. (more…)
Hole in the ground
After person or persons unknown reversed a vehicle into a lamp post in Histon the council to its credit put a new one in along side the old, damaged one. This was done some time ago and at the beginning of this week (29 Sep 08) its contractor came along and dug a hole to switch the power from the old lamp post to the new one. All pretty good so far.
