When the dust had settled on Friday morning local Lib Dems have had some cause to celebrate after the disappointment of the national result.
Jonathan Chatfield in SE Cambs and Sebastian Kindersley in S Cambs both increased their votes by about 6% with a swing from the Tories to us of about 2.5%. Well done Jonathan and Sebastian! And of course Julian Huppert held the Cambridge City seat.
In the South Cambs district council elections the Lib Dems won 10 of the 19 seats contested with a net gain of four, two from the Tories and two from independants. Two of those gains were in our patch!
Edd won in Histon where he polled 1775 votes versus the runner-up on 1462. Click here for the full result.
Lynda won in Cottenham where she just pipped the second placed candidate with 1915 votes versus 1877. There was a recount because it was so close. Click here for the full result.
