The letters have finally gone out and to the dismay of the local community Impington post office is on the list and is under notice of closure. There is of course opportunity to appeal and this is more than likely but it will not be easy.
Good news on HCVs for Impington residents
Following considerable local activity including press coverage, a question at the County Council meeting and support from local County Councillor David Jenkins it now seems possible that an overnight HCV ban will be implemented in Histon and Impington. (more…)
Rampton parents delighted at school bus ruling
When Cambridgeshire County Council announced earlier this year that it intended to withdraw the school bus which took Rampton children to the junior school in Cottenham parents were furious. The alternative is a 2 mile walk along a footpath immediately bordering the road which morning commuters from Willingham and the north use to drive into Cambridge. (more…)
Oakington residents call for airport road action
Residents of Oakington, and not just those that live on Longstanton Road, have asked for action to stop the illegal use of the road across the old airport. It is increasingly being used as an A14 rat run and what was only a trickle of users a couple of years ago is now a flood. (more…)
Lib Dems support local post offices
Early in July the government is going to be announcing those post offices which it proposes to close. This will be a sad day for many villages because without their post offices residents may have to travel several miles to the next nearest. And with rural transport being generally poor this is tough for those without cars. (more…)
Lib Dems warn against transport strategy U-turn
The Liberal Democrats at Cambridgeshire County Council have urged the Conservative administration to persevere with its Transport Innovation Fund proposal, at least until the Government have responded in autumn 2008. (more…)
